Allegheny Retrospective
"Allegheny Retrospective," the 10-minute documentary short which premiered at the Allegheny City Society's Annexation Commemoration on December 7, 2007, is finally available on DVD!
Tom Roberts, Allegheny's own musical historian and composer, composed, arranged, conducted and performed a new soundtrack, complete with his solo piano rendition of "The Allegheny Rag." Tom assembled a small ensemble of local musicians to record all new music, and the resulting soundtrack is touchingly evocative of the era of old Allegheny.
Please join us Friday night, June 27th, when the Mexican War Streets Society opens its 5th annual Art Show & Sale!
The event will be held at the historic Firehouse Studios at 1416 Arch Street, and will open with an evening reception on Friday, June 27 at 6 p.m., followed by the show and sale on Saturday and Sunday, June 28 and 29 from noon to 4 p.m. each day. Artists represent a variety of mediums including paintings, ceramics, fiber art, sculpture and jewelry. Admission is free. The art show is sponsored in part by Giant Eagle, The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, and Karl Owens of Howard Hanna Real Estate.
The MWSS Art Show will be held in conjunction with Moxie DaDA Gallery’s exhibition “Thomas Brunger Adirondack Paintings” oil on canvas. “Thomas Brunger” will be on display through June 28, 2008.
